Liteflex LLC Announces Successful ISO/TOS 16949:2002 Registration

Englewood, OH, USA, (February 10, 2003) – Liteflex LLC, a worldwide manufacturer of composite springs for the automotive and truck industry, today, announced it has been successfully registered by Eagle Registrations, Inc., to receive the ISO/TS 16949:2002 certification.  Liteflex LLC is now a member of an elite group of manufacturers in the United States that have earned this globally recognized certification.

ISO/TS 16949:2002 is the world’s vehicle manufacturers preferred Quality Management System.  This standard is based on significant input from the International Automotive Task Force (IATF), consisting of General Motors, Ford Motor Company, Daimler-Chrysler, Fiat, Renault, Bavarian Motor Works (BMW), Peugeot, and Volkswagen, along with the beneficial contribution from the Asian manufacturers.  The IATF has brought together key requirements from existing QS-9000 (US), VDA6.1 (German), EAQF (French), and AVSQ (Italian) quality management systems to create the new global quality standard for the automotive industry, ISO/TS 16949:2002.

Liteflex LLC implemented this newly adopted standard, ISO/TS 16949:2002, which applies a “process approach” to Quality Management Systems and is fundamentally superior to the QS-9000.  ISO/TS 16949:2002 is a more demanding standard, strengthening management systems in key areas, which ultimately benefit the customers and manufacturers.  Enhancements identified in this standard are within the realms of Customer Satisfaction, Process Analysis and Improvement, Product Realization, Development of Supplier Chains, Employee Motivation and Empowerment, and Management and Organizational Performance.

Additionally, Liteflex LLC had made the commitment in 2002 to adopt this standard and take a proactive approach to production and supply of quality products to their customers and for future production opportunities.  Some of Liteflex LLC’s current customers include, General Motors, Daimler-Chrysler AG, Freightliner, Paccar, International Truck & Engine, Fiat/Iveco and multiple trailer supension manufacturers.  Its composite springs can be found on previous models of the Daimler-Chrysler “Smart Car”, Ford Electric vehicles, and Land Rovers.

Beginning second quarter of 2003, Liteflex LLC will begin its project implementation of the ISO 14001, the Environmental Management System, with its primary goal being to safeguard our increasingly delicate environment.  Compliance to the ISO 14001 standard facilitates the identification of problems, before they occur and will ultimately ensure the demonstration of Liteflex LLC’s commitment to be environmentally astute and responsible.  The combination of ISO/TS 16949 and ISO 14001 validates LiteFlex LLC as a world-class leader in automotive supply through continual improvement, while maintaining total adherence to customer requirements in a safe working environment.

Liteflex LLC is headquartered in Englewood, OH and operates three manufacturing facilities in the Dayton, OH metropolitian area.  European Sales and Engineering is managed through representation in Shropshire, England.
